I removed a dozen deck boards using a nail puller (search on google), made by Crescent. It has an outer sleeve that is manually clunked downward, imbedding the claw-puller around the nailhead. Then the handle is pried laterally, pulling the nail out.

Remove the bottom circuit board. I found this to be the trickiest step and needed an extra set of hands to hold up the top circuit board while I worked my fingers around the bottom circuit board to release it from the tabs.

Re: Remove Deck Boards Tool The deckwrecker will pay for itself the first deck it is used on. We use it with screwed or nailed boards. after the boards are off, we go through with a hammer (screws mostly break off) or sawzal.

Re: Removing Decking Boards? I have the deck wrecker and I think it's an awesome tool. Doesn't matter if the boards are nailed it screwed, this will pull the boards right up.
The small amount of wood taken out will not matter, but lean the blade toward the wood being discarded. If you can't access the bottom of the deck, you can remove a section of the board to be discarded close to the screw and then cut the screw horizontally. The stub of the old screw in the framing board will be covered by the new boards.
Leave the deck boards longer than the deck, so they hang over the outer edge of the deck by several inches or more. After all the deck boards have been attached, pop a chalk line an inch or so past the end of the deck foundation and use a circular saw to cut the decking to the finished length.
