Hydrogen peroxide bubbles when it comes into contact with an enzyme called catalase. Most cells in the body contain catalase, so when the tissue is damaged, the enzyme is released and becomes available to react with the peroxide. Catalase allows hydrogen peroxide (H 2 O 2) to be broken down into water (H 2 O) and oxygen (O 2). Like other enzymes, catalase is not used up in the reaction but is recycled to catalyze more reactions.
I put peroxide in my ear and then flushed it out with hot water. I think I've scarred my eardrum as I've lost over 85% hearing in that ear. Can anything be done as I'm a musician.
When the catalase comes in contact with hydrogen peroxide, it turns the hydrogen peroxide (H 2 O 2) into water (H 2 O) and oxygen gas (O 2). Catalase does this extremely efficiently -- up to 200,000 reactions per second. The bubbles you see in the foam are pure oxygen bubbles being created by the catalase.
Next, draw 3-4 drops of hydrogen peroxide using the dropper. Place a towel on the shoulder of the same side as the ear being treated. This will absorb any drips that may come out of the procedure. Apply the warm hydrogen peroxide on the same ear and allow the solution to stay for 10-15 minutes.

In contact with tissues H2O2 releases oxygen which makes bubbles and they start to look like foam coming out. In theory, it should soften the wax. In practice, very small beneficial effect. Better to put ordinary olive oil and pay a visit to your GP or ENT.

That's where catalase steps in: when a cell creates hydrogen peroxide, it stores it inside the cell's specialized organelles, called peroxisomes, which contain hydrogen peroxide-busting catalase. Inside of a peroxisome, hydrogen peroxide decomposes and is turned into harmless water and oxygen gas .

Administer the instructed number of drops into your ear canal and fill it with fluid. Keep still for 5 minutes.
